9 Bennetts Bridge Road, Newtown, CT - An Old Farm House We recently listed 9 Bennetts Bridge Road, Newtown for sale. This is a really cute old farm house that is like stepping back into time. It was purchased from Charles Beardsley in 1936 and has been in the Kearns family since. The farm house is being separated from the rest of the farm land. We understand that there are no plans to subdivide the remaining farm land at this time and the big red barn is not included in this sale.

This is a built in cabinet and shelves that are build in the small entry way that leads to a small room on the main floor. Across from this built in is the door to the basement. Shelves are rather deep given the space that it is built in.
There are three (3) bedrooms located upstairs. When you walk up the rather steep stairs to the second floor, you arrive to a landing. One bedroom is located on the right, straight ahead and on the left. The photo is of the entry door to the left bedroom. The ceiling is sloped and the door hits it. Solution: notch the wood trim on the ceiling where the door hits it.
Attached to the farmhouse, behind the Kitchen and Bathroom is a large attached storage room. It has an exterior entry as well as entry from the Kitchen. This storage room was very practical back in the day. This photo os of the storage room ceiling. You can see the old boards and the light areas that you see is a new roof sheathing that was put over the original roof. We typically see this in attics of antique homes.
