Where to Purchase a Christmas Tree in Newtown, CT  Several people have asked us lately where to purchase a Christmas Tree in Newtown, CT.  Aside from the local major chain stores where you can purchase a pre-cut Christmas tree, there are several tree farms in Newtown which include:

1. Sam's Tree Farm at 138 Huntingtown Road, Newtown
2. Medridge Farm at 113 Walnut Tree Hill Road, Sandy Hook
3. Longview Farm is on Tunnel Road, Newtown

Additionally, the Boy Scouts have a tree farm on the corner of Boggs Hill Road and Hattertown Road.  We've never seen anyone there selling trees, but there's a sign up and there are Christmas trees growing.  We've always thought they sell their Chirstmas trees elsewhere, but have not confirmation of this.

2010 Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies in Newtown, CT  While New York City has already had its Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center, Newtown, CT has three Christmas tree lightings scheduled for this weekend.  They are as follows:

• Tonight at Ram Pasture is the Newtown Christmas tree lighting.  The event starts at 6:30 pm with Santa and Mrs. Clause in attendance.  This marks the 26th Annual Tree Lighting in Newtown.



• The Sandy Hook Christmas tree lighting will be held tomorrow, December 4, right in the heart of Sandy Hook Center.  Tree lighting is scheduled for 6:30 pm, and festivities start at 4:30 pm.



• The Hawleyville section of Newtown will be holding their first Christmas tree lighting on Sunday, December 5th.  Tree lighting will be in the new shopping center between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

Newtown, CT Holiday Tree Lighting  Last night, the Newtown, CT Holiday Tree Lighting at the Ram's Pasture took place.  This is an annual event that usually takes place on the first Friday of December.  It's truly one of the most beautiful evenings in Newtown.  The roads leading to Rams Pasture are all lined with lighted luminaries (small paper bags with cutout on them with candles inside).  Town residents attend this event in great numbers.
